mouthful of water / land crabs to use for the deposit?

my daughter from school and I have a lobster 5 with a filter gallon. we have water spring in the tank, a couple of live plants and rocks for him to hide in. We have had for less than a week and the water is already feeling bad, normal? I can only put water in the tank without killing the tab?

When you change the water, 3 quarts vacuum tank to avoid being surprised. My tank is not flawless, but neither are the lakes and fish ponds of origin. Naturally, the forms of algae and I feel the need of this fish in the water. "I can change water every two weeks, and no smell. I have no resources or experience, but it had many fish ponds and fish from different background, each of which lasted at least 15 years!
