How I can fix my spinning reel?

I have a problem with my roll. I havent used for months. I test it. When I release the brake (to help fight the fish) do not do it properly. His acting very unusual for me and I vacation in a few days and my parents told me to try to fix it which means not simply buy a new reel. Anyone know how I can solve this problem?

apart. cleaning. material is undesirable jelly-like in it. that is fat. is suppost to be there. make sure your reel is going in one direction, as you can not turn the handle in the direction opposite to that needed to go to reel in.
