Killer Tattoo – Widescreen Subtitle AC3 Dts $19.99 A box office hit and an award winner in Thailand, Killer Tattoo takes place in the near future. Thailand has been taken over by foreigners, and everyone is after the American dollar. Bae Puffgun (Suthep Po-ngam), a broken down hitman, finishes a long prison term and finds a job offer waiting outside. He’s hired to kill Bangkok’s top cop. It’s a tough assignment, but the money is good, so he asks his old partner, Ghost Rifle (Sornsutha Klunmalee) to gather a team for the job. Ghost hires Dog Badbomb (Perttary Wongkamlao), a hotheaded killer who prefers hand grenades to guns, and Elvis M-16 (Pongsak Pongsuwan), a shell-shocked assassin who believes that he’s Elvis Presley. The four bumbling crooks botch the job, but the unstoppable Kit Silencer (Somchai Kemglad), hired as a backup, manages to finish off the cop. But the crime boss who hired all of them isn’t satisfied, and he sends his team of American toughs to kill all five men. Meanwhile, the five hapless hitmen deal with their own issues. Puffgun is guilt-ridden over abandoning his daughter years earlier, Ghost is haunted by the accidental shooting of his beautiful wife, and Dog has his own sad reasons for his allegiance to the addle-brained Elvis, who believes that he can only speak English, because the real King didn’t speak Thai. The unstoppable Kit Silencer, meanwhile, has spent a lifetime searching for the man who murdered his parents before his eyes when he was a boy. All he remembers is the trident tattoo on the man’s forearm. Killer Tattoo, the directorial debut of Yuthlert Sippapak, was shown at the 2002 Seattle International Film Festival and at Subway Cinema’s New York Asian Film Festival 2003. ~ Josh Ralske, Rovi |

Killer’s Delight - $8.99 Based loosely on the crimes of notorious serial killer Ted Bundy, Killer’s Delight tells the tale of a sadistic madman who travels the countryside violating and murdering every beautiful woman in his path. Once finished with his vile acts, the killer dumps his victim’s bodies from busy overpasses as a means of taunting the police. Though he succeeds in eluding the authorities long enough to rack up a substantial body count, the killer finally begins to feel the heat when a small-town cop recruits a brilliant psychologist and a big-city detective in stopping the slaughter and making the streets safe again. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi |

Killer Nerd/Bride of Killer Nerd - $14.99 Includes:Bride of Killer Nerd (1991), MPAA Rating: R Killer Nerd (1991) Bride of Killer Nerd Nerds in love do not always a pretty picture make, as can be seen in this gore-fest that once again presents a very different kind of revenge against those who torment them because they are different. The tale centers on Harold Kunkle, a nerd from the first film. He has just been hired as a data processor and is already suffering ostracism at the hands of his new co-workers. One day he is attending a religious sermon about loneliness when he meets the lovely nerdette, Thelma Crump, a high school girl who is tired of being teased by her peers. It is love at first sight, and the two are soon a happy couple immune to the cruelty of the outside world. The trouble begins, when they are invited to a beer bust by two of the most popular girls in school. The two are terribly humiliated and Harold becomes terribly drunk and begins talking in his sleep about his past crimes. Thelma listens and is inspired. Together, they begin slowly killing off their tormentors in creative but very gruesome ways. ~ Sandra Brennan, Rovi Killer Nerd This ultra-low-budget slasher film apparently aspires to be a splattery horror parody, but it falls considerably short of its target thanks to a script that fails to exploit the comic possibilities of its premise. Perennial TV geek Toby Radloff plays Harold, a beleaguered simp who suffers constant rejection, embarrassment, and physical abuse at the hands of nearly everyone in town. Chief among his tormentors are a pair of local toughs (Tony Zanoni and Niko DePofi), his pretty but vacuous coworker Sally (Heidi Lohr), and even his own mother (Virginia Scott). After a particularly humiliating day Harold snaps, suffers bizarre hallucinations, and goes on the requisite killing spree. None of this material is presented in an original manner and only serves as a vehicle for some plentiful but amateurish gore effects. Followed by the slightly superior sequel Bride of Killer Nerd. ~ Cavett Binion, Rovi |

Killer Tumbao $14.99 The listener who buys Killer Tumbao based on the title will be disappointed; this is not driving, salsified Latin jazz. Rather, it is a beautifully played jazz release that is alternately upbeat and introspective. Fans of sparkling piano playing will enjoy the clarity and facility displayed by Dur n. Flautist/saxophonist Jane Bunnett, a leading promoter of Cuban jazz, is heard to good effect. The horn section cooks and the percussion mostly stays back in a supporting role; overall, the musicianship, arrangements, and production are first rate and enhance the leader’s virtuosity. ~ Janet Rosen |

Killer at Large - $14.99 Don’t be fooled by the sensationalistic title: the “killer” in question is not a homicidal maniac but a growing national epidemic – that of obesity. Grounded in deeply disturbing statistics – namely the fact that two-thirds of the American population (including 9 million children) qualify as obese or overweight – this documentary argues that the United States is on the cusp of an evolutionary disaster that is systematically wiping out large sectors of the populace. As such, the documentary traces the root causes and looks at ways to reverse this impending crisis. In making its case, the film draws on commentary from such public figures as Bill Clinton, Mike Huckabee, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Neil La Bute and others. ~ Nathan Southern, Rovi |

Killer Bees - $14.99 A peaceful field trip turns into a nature-bound nightmare when a swarm of mutant, killer bees attack a group of Japanese students. Driven by an unknown intelligence and possessing a sting that causes the human body to explode from within, the bees begin to hunt the terrified students, steadily thinning their numbers until only a few, horrified survivors remain. But the worst is yet to come, because with every venom-pumping death sting, the swarm’s rage intensifies. Is this a simple, isolated incident, or perhaps the first warning sign of Mother Nature’s coming wrath? ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi |

The Alphabet Killer - $12.99 Wrong Turn director Rob Schmidt takes the helm for this thriller inspired by the grim true-life exploits of an alphabet-obsessed New York serial killer and starring Timothy Hutton, Cary Elwes, Eliza Dushku, and Michael Ironside. When Rochester, NY-based police investigator Megan Paige (Dushku) discovers that ten year old Carla Castillo was brutally raped and murdered in nearby Churchville, she becomes convinced that the department is dealing with a serial killer. Paige is a driven detective whose devotion to her job often crosses the border into obsession. Her fianc?, Kenneth Shine (Elwes), is a lieutenant with the Rochester Police Department, and as both jockey for the same promotion, the cracks in their relationship begin to show. Later, when Megan becomes haunted by visions of Carla and fails to solve the case, a concerned Captain Gullikson (Tom Noonan) takes her off of the case. Suffering a nervous breakdown shortly thereafter, Megan is diagnosed with adult onset of paranoid schizophrenia and placed in a psychiatric hospital, where she promptly breaks off her engagement to Kenneth. Two years later, Megan has returned to the precinct as a records clerk, and Kenneth is now the head of the department. Over time, Megan begins developing a friendship with wheelchair-bound Richard Ledge (Hutton). When a local girl named Wendy Walsh is abducted, raped, and murdered in Webster, Megan convinces Kenneth to let her ride along with Detective Steven Harper (Tom Malloy) as an advisor to the case. But the gruesome nature of the case once again prompts strange visions for Megan. Now she is haunted by two murder victims, and to make matters worse, she’s beginning to develop embarrassing involuntary ticks and stops taking her medication. As the hallucinations get worse and the case starts to run cold, Megan struggles to find the one piece of evidence that will lead them to the killer before her dark side takes over once again. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi |

Fulltime Killer - $12.99 Following up on his two-fisted 2000 flick The Mission, Johnnie To, along with Wai Ka Fai, directs this high-octane shoot ‘em up about a pair of hired killers vying for their reputation and for a beautiful girl. O (Takashi Sorimachi) is a reclusive, highly disciplined assassin who is considered the top killer of Hong Kong. Since the murder of his comely housekeeper, with whom he secretly has fallen in love, he has grown even more inward. For him, any connection to the outside is fraught with danger, usually leading to death. Tok (played by pop star and heartthrob Andy Lau) is the polar opposite of O — brash and eager to be number one. Chin (Kelly Lin) is O’s part-time housekeeper — a replacement to her murdered predecessor — and current obsession. When Tok seduces her — in between knocking off gangsters in a Bill Clinton mask — he forces O out of his seclusion and into a confrontation with his rival. Meanwhile, Interpol, lead by Inspector Lee (Simon Yam of Bullet in the Head fame), is hot on their trail. This film was screened at the 2001 Toronto Film Festival. ~ Jonathan Crow, Rovi |

Zodiac Killer – Widescreen Subtitle $12.99 It’s been said that truth is stranger than fiction, and when a menacing copycat killer begins emulating the murderous exploits of the Zodiac Killer, the citizens of Los Angeles quickly find out that the truth is much more terrifying than fiction as well. It’s been years since the Zodiac Killer stalked the streets of L.A., and in the years since those horrific crimes, the citizens have grown complacent in taking their safety for granted. Now, a mysterious killer is stalking the streets and picking up where the Zodiac Killer left off. Driven by madness and obsession, the murderous psychopath will stop at nothing to see that the spirit of the Zodiac Killer lives on, and until he is caught no one is safe in the streets of Los Angeles. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi |

Zodiac Killer / Sex Killer / Zero In and Scream - $8.99 Includes:The Sex Killer (1967) Zero In and Scream (1970) The Zodiac Killer (1971), MPAA Rating: R The Sex Killer No synopsis available. Zero In and Scream No synopsis available. The Zodiac Killer This 1971 exploitation vehicle is primarily designed for maximum squirms, produced as it was at the height of the true-life killer’s notoriety, but it’s notable for the efforts made by the filmmakers to include authentic case details while theorizing about the identity of the still-unapprehended serial slayer. Opening with a major red herring in the guise of a trucker who claims to be the Zodiac before being killed by police in a domestic violence standoff, we’re eventually introduced to the real psycho, a postal worker named Jerry (Hal Reed) who breeds rabbits in his apartment and murders in order to collect slaves to serve him in the afterlife. From there on we follow Jerry as he haunts lovers lanes and beaches, shooting and stabbing his victims while wearing the same bizarre black outfit described by survivors of the real-life Zodiac’s attacks. For dramatic purposes, though, the film presents no survivors, just deaths and occasional near misses when Jerry decides that a potential victim won’t serve him well in the great beyond. The low budget contributes to the film’s tense, depressing atmosphere, and while no performance is more than simply credible, Reed is effective as the arrogant Zodiac, taunting the police and the press with his defiant letters and phone calls. The film ends with the haunting image of Jerry helping an old woman across the street while he addresses the audience directly, letting us know that we’re all potential targets, not only in danger from him but from the hundreds of surreptitious killers just like the Zodiac who roam unfettered and unlikely to be caught. Perhaps The Zodiac Killer’s most horrifying moment, however, is a brief cameo by comedian and former Spike Jones Orchestra member Doodles Weaver, who provides a bitterly zealous rant against women that feels uncomfortably real. ~ Fred Beldin, Rovi |

Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer - $24.99 Includes:Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer (1986), MPAA Rating: NC-17 The Serial Killers: Henry Lee Lucas – The Confession Killer (2005) Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer Though the title makes Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer seem like a cut-rate slasher flick, the film is actually one of the most disturbing and terrifying examinations of mass murderers ever filmed. Loosely based on the story of confessed murderer Henry Lee Lucas, the film follows Henry (Michael Rooker) as he selects innocent victims–occasionally with his roommate Otis (Tom Towles)–and kills them, capturing their murder on videotape. Many of these murders rank among the most brutal and violent ever portrayed on film. The violence and the clinical, detached portrayal of Henry and his horrifying actions make Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer a disturbing, thought-provoking film, but it certainly isn’t one for every taste. Finished in 1986, the film wasn’t released until 1990, when it was greeted with both positive reviews and considerable controversy. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, Rovi The Serial Killers: Henry Lee Lucas – The Confession Killer No synopsis available. |

Killer Tongue - $8.99 If nothing else, this throwback to the old low-budget psychotronic films of the ’50s and ’60s is uniquely stylish, even kitschy. A Spanish-British production it is set in New Mexico (but filmed in Spain) and chronicles the twisted adventures of Candy, a thief and con artist who accidentally ingests part of a meteorite and grows an enormous serpentine talking tongue that has a special taste for human flesh. It all begins after Candy and her partner Johnny pull off their latest job. Johnny gets caught and takes the entire rap and Candy flees to a nunnery/gas station in the desert after hiding their loot. Her four pastel dyed poodles accompany her. Soon after her arrival, the meteor crashes as she eats soup with a bit of the space rock in it. She then gives some to the doggies. While the voracious alien appendage grows in her mouths, her poochies turn into drag queens. They help her procure a steady supply of food. Poor Candy tries to cut the horrible thing out of her mouth but to no avail. She finally begs Johnny to escape and help her. He does, but is pursued by a sadistic prison warden. Unfortunately Johnny gets too close to the meteorite as does a speechless nun. When that happens, real chaos ensues. The film contains gory scenes. ~ Sandra Brennan, Rovi |

Killer’s Moon – Widescreen Dts $14.99 Teenagers will go camping, they will have sex, and they will wander aimlessly around on lonely roads in the dead of night. If you liked this by-rote formula in Friday the 13th, chances are you’ll like Killer’s Moon. Nothing’s really new about the main character, an escaped murderer who slashes only when the moon is full. The novelty comes in the awe-inspiring variety of methods he uses to slice and dice his victims. Though Killer’s Moon is certainly full of screams, shocks and gushing blood, 92 minutes’ worth of audience attention may be a bit too much to ask for. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi |

Killer on the Rampage [Deluxe Edition] $27.99 Eddy Grant.Personnel: Tony Zap Edmunds, Raf Robertson (keyboards); Errol Wise (drums); Sonny Akpan (congas); Ian Alleyne (background vocals).Liner Note Author: Quinton Scott.Recording information: Havana, Cuba.Photographers: Steve Shipman; Simon Fowler .Arranger: Eddy Grant.A gifted and eclectic artist with a career spanning four decades, Eddy Grant found long overdue commercial success with 1982′s KILLER ON THE RAMPAGE. The taut electro-reggae of “Electric Avenue” propelled the album into the upper reaches of the charts on both sides of the Atlantic, but KILLER ON THE RAMPAGE is a remarkably consistent album that contains pleasures beyond its inescapable lead single. The fearsome “War Party” successfully melds slippery funk with crisp New Wave production values while “Funky Rock N’ Roll” serves as an unswerving statement of Grant’s multicultural musical agenda. |

Killer Elite/Blown Away - $5.99 Includes:The Killer Elite (1975), MPAA Rating: PG Blown Away (1994), MPAA Rating: R The Killer Elite This second-string Sam Peckinpah action film features James Caan as ex-CIA agent Mike Locken, who has retired due to injuries received at the hands of his ex-partner George Hansen (Robert Duvall). But Mike is lured out of retirement to protect Yuen Chung (Mako), an Asian political leader. There’s a contract out on Yuen Chung’s life — and the killer assigned to rub out Yuen Chung is none other than Mike’s former partner, George Hansen. The confrontation between the two leads to a showdown on a decaying naval vessel between Mike’s forces and a group of ninja warriors. ~ Paul Brenner, Rovi Blown Away Opening within one month from each other in 1994, Blown Away invited many comparisons to Speed. Both are pyrotechnical displays involving mad bombers and a multitude of flying building debris and body parts. The cop and the mad bomber in this one are Jimmy Dove (Jeff Bridges), a veteran of the Boston Bomb Squad planning to retire from the force, and Ryan Gaerity (Tommy Lee Jones), a revenge-crazed explosives expert who has recently escaped from a detention center in Northern Ireland. It seems that Gaerity is out to get Jimmy and has been nursing his grudge for the past twenty years. Back in his Irish past, Jimmy, then known as Liam, was a student of Gaerity, who constructed bombing devices for the IRA. But when Gaerity’s bombing plans included the killing of innocent civilians, Liam opposed him and thwarted his efforts. As a result, Liam escaped to the United States to become Jimmy, and Gaerity was arrested and sent to prison. But now that Gaerity is out of jail, he is traveling to Boston to wreak havoc upon the city in revenge for what Jimmy has done to him. His plan is to create so many bombings in Boston that the bomb squad’s strength will be depleted, allowing him to get to Jimmy and his family. The goal? Blowing up Jimmy’s wife (Suzy Amis) and stepdaughter at a Boston Pops concert. ~ Paul Brenner, Rovi |

Interview With a Serial Killer – Widescreen $5.99 In this crime thriller, Leslie Steckler (Peter Firth) is an inoffensive, polite and very quiet man. He does, however, have a particular animus against blondes wearing white. In fact, among that small group of women, he is a cold-blooded serial killer, instead of the meek dentist he usually appears to be. He is looking for someone to tell his story to, and when he discovers that the (brunette) writer Ellen Carter (Harriet Robinson) has murdered her husband, he feels that he has found a perfect person. It helps, of course, that her novelistic specialty is serial killers. However, Inspector Taylor (Don Henderson) of Scotland Yard is on Ellen’s case, and will soon be on Leslie’s. ~ Clarke Fountain, Rovi |

Black River Killer [LP] $11.98 This seven-track companion piece to Blitzen Trapper’s superb 2008 release, Furr (all of the tracks have been available to fans since early 2008 in CD-R form at the band’s shows), is built around that album’s darkest moment, the murder ballad “Black River Killer.” While the six tracks that follow don’t wallow in the same waters of failed redemption as the title track, they do cling to Furr’s folksier moments, resulting in a solid addendum for those who prefer Blitzen Trapper’s Bob Dylan meets the Grateful Dead fetish over their visceral, vaguely psychedelic Southern indie rock jams. Standout cuts like the breezy “Preacher’s Sister’s Boy,” the Beatlesque “Going Down,” and the straight-up Skynrd-tastic “Big Black Bird” offer further proof that the Pacific Northwest (home of the Fleet Foxes and M. Ward) is not so quietly reinventing Americana for the 21st century. ~ James Christopher Monger |

How to Be a Serial Killer - $24.99 A parody of self-help literature and motivational speakers, Luke Ricci’s dark comedy follows charismatic serial killer Mike Wilson as he mentors his first pupil in the fine art of mass murder. Mike is the kind of guy who knows what he wants out of life, and knows how to get it. Now that Mike is living the dream, he wants to share his knowledge with others, too. In order to give aspiring serial killers all the tools they’ll need to become the next Jeffrey Dahmer, he’s crafted a ten-lesson program that covers such topics as weaponry, corpse disposal, and keeping secrets from loved ones. When it comes time for Mike to deliver his first one-on-one tutorial, he recruits a lost soul named Bart and the lessons begin. As the lessons intensify, Mike finds it increasingly difficult to keep his clandestine career a secret from his beloved girlfriend, Abigail. Eventually, Abigail discovers the truth, and the police start closing in on Mike. Although Mike has escaped to his desert hideout along with Bart, the cops soon come knocking and all hell breaks loose. Will Mike and Bart ever escape to Mexico as planned, or will Mike’s first lesson in police stand-offs and violent gunfights prove a complete and unexpected bust? ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi |
