When was the slope-Roman nose, which was "like an eagle. Why Jews "*******"? hook nose
"Aqualine" designated as an eagle. Why the difference? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aquiline_nose
Who said Jews are referred to only as hooked nose? What are some references. And who says that the Romans are not directed as such? I have a schnoz. Generally to refer to him as a Roman nose I am of Italian origin. My nose could also be called aquiline, hooked beak, gigantic elephant, or whatever. No difference for me.

Sharpe's Eagle - $14.99 In this historical drama produced for television, Richard Sharpe (Sean Bean) is an officer in the British Army who has his own way of doing things, but has risen to a rank of power thanks to his bravery and steely intelligence under fire. Sharpe is a Captain of the Battalion of South Essex, a platoon of inexperienced soldiers Sharpe is trying to mold into an efficient fighting force. Much to Sharpe's annoyance, South Essex looses an important battle thanks to the incompetence of Sir Henry Simmerson (Michael Cochrane), and their regimental flag and standard is stolen from them by French forces. The same battle took the life of one of Sharpe's closest friends, so now he's determined to get his revenge by taking from the French their prized standard, a golden eagle. Sharpe's Eagle also features Assumpta Serna as Teresa, a feared Spanish terrorist who is also Sharpe's lover, and Katia Caballero as Josephina, a widow of Sharpe's acquaintance. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi |

Once an Eagle - $12.99 Once an Eagle was a seven-part miniseries originally telecast December 2, 1976 through January 13, 1977; the first and last installments ran two hours each, while the interim episodes each ran 60 minutes. Based on the Anton Myrer novel, the series charts thirty years in the careers of two military men, from the outbreak of World War I to the aftermath of World War II. Sam Damon (Sam Elliot) is the "Gallant," a straight-arrow type who is an excellent family man and praiseworthy warrior. Courtney Massingale (Cliff Potts) is the "Goofus," a womanizing, self-aggrandizing conniver who knows how to play the angles to the top. Once an Eagle was the second of four story arcs seen on the NBC anthology series Best Sellers; it was preceded by Captains and the Kings, and followed by Seventh Avenue and The Rhineman Exchange. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi |

The Eagle - B&W $5.99 Based on a Pushkin novel, The Eagle stars Rudolph Valentino as a Russian cossack who is the special favorite of the formidable Catherine the Great (Louise Dresser). He spurns her attentions, preferring not to be a kept consort. When his lands are stolen from him, Valentino transforms into a Robin-Hood-like masked avenger. Vilma Banky plays the daughter of the man who killed Valentino's own father. Despite his thirst for revenge, our hero falls in love with Vilma, who goes the "Lois Lane" route of adoring the masked-avenger Valentino but disdaining the unmasked Rudy, little guessing that the two are one in the same. Watch quickly for Gary Cooper as one of Valentino's masked minions. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi |

Iron Eagle IV: On the Attack - $8.99 The fourth entry in the Iron Eagle series follows the return of General Charles “Chappy” Sinclair (Louis Gosset Jr., who deserves better) as he trains a Dirty Dozen-style team of juvenile delinquents to improve their quality of life by flying planes and combatting evil. This time the Air Force itself is the enemy, as the intrepid teens uncover a conspiracy involving biological weaponry. When Chappy contacts his old friend, General Kettle (Al Waxman), he learns the General is in on the action. Along the way, the group manages to combat some ill-prepared drug dealers as well. This installment is better than the second or third, but that’s not the highest of praise; Iron Eagle IV is a dumb-dumb fantasy for fourteen-year-old boys who don’t yet have their learner’s permits, much less their pilot’s licenses. ~ Jeremy Beday, Rovi |

White Eagle – B&W Dolby $24.99 Serials usually spawned feature film versions, but with this film, it was the other way around. A 1932 Buck Jones Western, White Eagle was made into a serial nine years later, again starring Jones in the title role, a (supposedly) Native American Pony Express Rider defending his people against a gang of evil Whites. Oldtimer Raymond Hatton appeared as Jones’ grizzled sidekick, and Dorothy Fay provided feminine interest. The bad guys were headed by James Craven and the mean-looking Jack Ingram. Unfortunately, the seemingly progressive serial caved into studio pressure by having its Native American protagonist turn out to be White after all and only adopted by the Indians. Fay later married Singing Cowboy Tex Ritter and was the mother of television star John Ritter. ~ Hans J. Wollstein, Rovi |

|
Shadow of the Eagle [Serial] - $8.99 Mascot produced their serials fast and furious with little concern for believability, acting prowess, or technical niceties. Shadow of the Eagle is neither the best nor worst of the bunch, but rather typical of the company’s hit-and-miss methods. The acting is occasionally downright embarrassing — and that includes a very young John Wayne in the starring role — but the fisticuffs are fast and plentiful, and the plot, such as it is, moves forward at a fast clip. The Mascot writers once again turn to trickery in order to conceal the identity of the mystery villain — including having a different actor providing a voice-over — but that is just par for the serial course. Comedy is provided by the carnival performers, but it quickly becomes grating, especially a running joke which has the circus midget (Little Billy) constantly mistaken for a child by the typically bone-headed cops, whom the circus performer refers to as “flatfooted palookas.” ~ Hans J. Wollstein, Rovi |
|
|
Iron Eagle II - $8.99 A pair of American pilots are forced to cooperate with their Soviet counterparts on a mission to destroy a Middle Eastern nuclear weapons site in this predictable, low-budget action sequel. The first Iron Eagle’s rebellious fly boy Cooper (Mark Humphreys) has returned, as has his gruff mentor Chappy (Louis Gossett Jr. as yet another military man). They must work with two Russian pilots, one of whom is a beautiful woman that handsome young Cooper naturally sets out to woo. An extended build-up, including the requisite government conspiracy, leads to the climactic final battle. Average-at-best production values fail to elevate the film above a derivative screenplay, although the film did find enough success to produce further installments in the series. ~ Judd Blaise, Rovi |

Nature: American Eagle [Blu-ray] - $24.99 Includes:Nature: The Wolf That Changed America (2008) Nature: American Eagle (2009) Nature: The Wolf That Changed America It marked an unusual and seldom-discussed battle between animal and man: in the year 1893, the bounty hunter Ernest Thompson Seton hearkened out to the rugged canyons of New Mexico to slay a wolf alternately christened “Lobo” and “King of the Currumpaw” by the locals. Lobo courted a legendary reputation as one of the most fearsome beasts in the Old West, notorious for terrorizing ranchers, devouring cattle, and – incredibly – cheating death. The beast eluded trap after trap, prompting nearby residents to solicit naturalist and animal trapper Seton’s help. But Seton carried his mission one step further than originally intended, vowing not simply to kill Lobo, but to single-handedly wipe out the entire species. This program documents this astonishing and disturbing story, and reveals how Seton’s wolf extermination inadvertently laid the groundwork for the wilderness preservation movement of the 20th and 21st centuries. ~ Nathan Southern, Rovi Nature: American Eagle F. Murray Abraham hosts this in-depth look at a year in the life of one American bald eagle. Hunted almost to extinction in the 1960′s, protective laws and efforts by wildlife conservationists have helped increase the population of the United States’ national bird, whose every behavior is just as fascinating as its iconic image. ~ Cammila Albertson, Rovi |

The Eagle Has Landed [LP] [3/8] $36.98 After recording four fine studio albums in three years, Saxon had catapulted to the top of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal heap alongside Iron Maiden and Def Leppard, who were themselves already going strong, but had yet to release their American breakthroughs, The Number of the Beast and Pyromania, respectively. Therefore, the release of Saxon’s first live album — named The Eagle Has Landed after the iconic giant eagle lighting truss which illuminated the band on-stage — should have been a crowning achievement for the hard-working quintet. Instead, it signaled the end of their golden era: delivering an imperfect greatest-hits set marred by a few iffy performances (“Heavy Metal Thunder” distinctly lacked the, err, “thunder” of its studio version) and ill-chosen inclusions from the band’s then-recent Denim and Leather album (“Never Surrender,” “Fire in the Sky,” but no sign of the anthemic title track?); opening the door for lukewarm reviews from jaded English writers, always eager to tear down what they’d only recently built up. Saxon’s signature first hit, “Stallions of the Highway,” was also conspicuously absent, leaving even die-hard fans a little miffed — although these had absolutely no cause for complaint when it came to positively crackling performances of such all-time classics as “Motorcycle Man,” “747 (Strangers in the Night),” “Princess of the Night,” and the epic “Wheels of Steel,” in arguably its definitive, audience-participating version. In the end, all the above made The Eagle Has Landed a solid offering, but certainly not the caliber of live album which children of the ’70s had grown accustomed to receiving. EMI’s 2006 expanded reissue of The Eagle Has Landed retains the original’s mixed qualities: adding a generous six tracks supposedly culled from the same, 1981-1982, time period, but failing to remix them so that they sound like it; all the while paying little mind to addressing missing essentials left off the first time around. Still, aging Saxon fans will likely all agree that the hour’s grown too late for quibbling over such details, when faced with heartwarmingly resurrected nuggets like “And the Bands Played On,” “Frozen Rainbow,” “Midnight Rider,” and “Dallas 1PM.” ~ Eduardo Rivadavia |

The Eagle Has Landed - $44.99 John Sturges directed this taut adaptation of Jack Higgins’ suspense novel about an attempted kidnapping of Winston Churchill by the German high command during World War II. When it is discovered that in November 1943 Winston Churchill is scheduled to spend a weekend in a country home in Norfolk, the Germans plan to kidnap him. Heinrich Himmler (Donald Pleasence), under orders from Hitler, assigns Nazi colonel Max Radl (Robert Duvall) the chore of sneaking the English-hating Irishman Liam Devlin (Donald Sutherland) into the British countryside and arranging for a 16-man task force to be parachuted into the English country town of Sudley Constable, under the auspices of Colonel Kurt Steiner (Michael Caine). The efficient planning works too well, and before long their exactingly perfect timetable begins to come apart. ~ Paul Brenner, Rovi |
