Lady Luck was seldom good for Sam Sam Although there was a real enthusiasm for life, was constantly plagued by bad luck.

He loved poker but poker did not love him, he played the stock market with great anticipation but always seemed to be the person who has bought high and sold low. Honma used expensive but often does not work, then buy the equipment discount golf.

His life seemed to be full of inferior UPS.

His greatest pleasure was his golf game. Not that Sam was a great golfer, in fact, never managed to break 100, but the shot ended up in a strange area in general, he had in mind was enough to keep their hopes.

By Finally Sam became ill and died. But just before he died, asked that his remains be cremated and his ashes scattered off the waterway at the ninth hole of his home race. Fu Manchu Tu-Fer [2 Discs] -

Fu Manchu Tu-Fer [2 Discs] -

$14.99

Includes:The Blood of Fu Manchu (1968) The Castle of Fu Manchu (1968) The Blood of Fu Manchu The first of several collaborations between cult director Jesus Franco and British producer Harry Alan Towers, this horror-tinged adventure is full of jungle action, creative murders, and violent sexual sadism. Christopher Lee portrays the mysterious Asian madman Fu Manchu, plotting world domination from his secret headquarters underneath the Amazon rainforest. Fu has discovered a rare poison which affects only men, and uses it as lipstick for ten beautiful women, who are to deliver a kiss of death to each of 10 public officials. Carl Jansen (Gotz George) and Sir Denis Nayland Smith (Richard Greene), a pair of Scotland Yard detectives, track Fu Manchu to his underground hideout and — with the aid of Dr. Ronald Petrie (Howard Marion Crawford) — search for the antidote to the deadly poison. Lee’s wooden performance is alleviated by an amusing turn by Ricardo Palacios as a revolutionary, and a beautiful female cast. Vicente Roca and Marcelo Arroita Jauregui also appear in this entertaining, if extremely sexist, fourth entry in the Fu Manchu series. Nude torture scenes and snake attacks are featured in some of the numerous prints, running 91, 88, 82, and 61 minutes. ~ Robert Firsching, Rovi The Castle of Fu Manchu This extremely low-budget adventure was director Jesus Franco’s second Fu Manchu film for British producer Harry Alan Towers. Christopher Lee returns as the Asian madman, who has developed a way to turn the oceans into ice as part of his plan to rule the world. Kidnapping famed Prof. Herakles (Gustavo Re), Fu forces the doctor to help him with his diabolical plan. When Herakles’ health starts to fail, Fu kidnaps two more people (Guenther Stoll, Maria Perschy) for a transplant operation at his Istanbul headquarters. Fu’s old rivals Dennis Nayland Smith (Richard Green) and Dr. Petrie (Howard Marion Crawford) come to Turkey to foil his evil experiments. Rosalba Neri, Jose Manuel Martin, and Werner Abrolat co-star in this poor fifth installment in the popular series. The film is so poorly conceived that — although it was made in color — the shipwreck caused by Fu is actually a black-and-white scene borrowed wholesale from A Night to Remember. For completists only, this disastrous entry also stars Herbert Fuchs and Tsai Chin, while Franco makes a cameo as a Turkish detective. Various versions run 92, 86, and 85 minutes. ~ Robert Firsching, Rovi

Drive-In Car Crash Classics Two-Fer [2 Discs] - Dolby

Drive-In Car Crash Classics Two-Fer [2 Discs] – Dolby

$14.99

Includes:Cannonball (1976), MPAA Rating: R Fast Company (1978), MPAA Rating: R Cannonball Paul Bartel rips off his own Death Race 2000 in this mindless car-crash saga, containing more twisted metal than a bombed-out steel mill. The nominal storyline concerns an illegal auto race from Los Angeles to New York that promises the winner 100,000 dollars. David Carradine is Coy “Cannonball” Buckman, the race leader who drags his girlfriend, Linda (Veronica Hamel), along for the ride. Cade Redman (Bill McKinney) tools around in a loud red Trans Am, while Cannonball’s nemesis barrels along in a big, black Plymouth, trying to outsmart Cannonball at every turn and exit ramp. The pile-ups keep building, and the cameos (Roger Corman, Martin Scorsese, Sylvester Stallone, Joe Dante, Paul Bartel) keep coming, but Cannonball must make it to New York to collect his winnings. ~ Paul Brenner, Rovi Fast Company Amidst such formative shockers as Shivers, Rabid and The Brood, writer/director David Cronenberg dashed off this semi-documentary. Fast Company relates the life story of race car champion Lonnie Johnson. The ubiquitous William Smith, veteran of many a low-budget cycle flick, is quite convincing as Johnson. The film does not shirk in its depiction of the principal character’s womanizing, which in itself is surprisingly endearing. Cronenberg also offers an indictment against corporate sponsors who tend to squeeze drivers like Johnson dry of all their salability. And, of course, we’re offered plenty of breathtaking racing scenes, some of them real, others skillfully reenacted. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

Rockers & Bikers Two-fer: Smithereens/The Loveless [2 Discs] - Dolby

Rockers & Bikers Two-fer: Smithereens/The Loveless [2 Discs] – Dolby

$14.99

Includes:Smithereens (1982), MPAA Rating: R The Loveless (1982), MPAA Rating: R Smithereens Written, produced, directed, and edited by Susan Seidelman in true student film fashion, Smithereens is the story of Wren (Susan Berman), an independent spirit from New Jersey trying to self-promote herself into the New York punk scene. She meets Paul (Brad Rijn), who ran away from Montana and lives out of his van in a parking lot. Paul seems to offer genuine friendship, however, Wren is only interested in forming meaningless relationships in hopes of bolstering her nonexistent career. She has no musical talents or industry skills, yet she aggressively pursues a pathetic spot for herself in places like the Peppermint Lounge. She drops Paul for Eric (Richard Hell, who also performs on the musical score), who has a record deal, and they work out a plan to escape to California, which requires Wren to pose as a prostitute in order to scam money from a prospective john. Things don’t work out, and Wren finds herself hitting one wall after another, eventually getting kicked out of her apartment. With no place to go, Wren seeks out everyone she knows in the city, only to find herself left alone. ~ Andrea LeVasseur, Rovi The Loveless The period biker flick The Loveless marks the feature debut of both actor Willem Dafoe and writer/director Kathryn Bigelow (Strange Days). Bigelow co-wrote and co-directed the film with Monty Montgomery, who would go on to produce Wild at Heart and The Portrait of a Lady. Dafoe plays Vance, a stoic, leather-clad biker who rides into a small Southern town and to wait for some other bikers. Their plan is to travel on to Daytona for some racing, but they have to stick around the little truck stop town for a while to get one of their bikes repaired. Vance flirts a bit with Augusta (Liz Gans), a widowed waitress. She’s the only local who’s friendly to him and his gang. Contemplating living in such a depressed, isolated place, Vance tells her, “I think your husband had the right idea.” While the bikes are worked on, Vance and the gang, including the abrasive Davis (rockabilly musician Robert Gordon, who also composed the film’s soundtrack) and his girlfriend, Debbie (Tina Lhotsky), spend the day in town, to the chagrin of the conservative residents. Vance hooks up with Telena (Marin Kanter), the rebellious teenage daughter of a rich redneck. Their little tryst creates even more tension, and the day ends with violence. ~ Josh Ralske, Rovi

BGO’s two-fer of Brinsley Schwarz’s first two albums offers more liner notes than the two-fer available on One Way, and its cover artwork is different, offering miniatures of the two album covers instead of a blown-up version of the debut. Musically, it’s nearly the same, with the sole exception being that Despite It All runs before Brinsley Schwarz. So, it’s a tradeoff — if you want historical accuracy without documentation, pick One Way; if you want the notes, pick BGO. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine

Wedding Cantatas

Wedding Cantatas

$13.99

Bach’s ‘Wedding Cantatas’ were written not for performance at church ceremonies but rather in a domestic setting akin to a modern-day wedding reception. Each is a joyful celebration of a festive day, with a soprano soloist singing the praises of love and concluding with a sort of “toast” to the happiness of the couple. ‘Weichet nur’ depicts love renewing the world and driving away the shadows and frosts, and reaches its high point in a peasant-dance like aria, “Sich ?ben in Lieben,” hinting at love’s more physical appeals. The other wedding cantata, ‘O holder Tag,’ seems to argue at first that music is inadequate to express love-”Cease your notes, ye flutes”-but finally the “art of sweet music,” so long as it is cheerful, is reclaimed as an essential part of the celebration.Reinhard Goebel and Musica Antiqua K?ln bring to this music the lively period instrument performance we have come to expect of this ensemble, and Christine Sch?fer is a thoughtful, clear-voiced soloist. The final cantata on this disc, ‘Jauchzet Gott in allen Landen,’ moves away from the topic of marriage to more typical religious praise, and here Sch?fer is most impressive of all. With more opportunity for coloratura her voice blends ideally with the trumpets added (along with organ and drums) to the ensemble for this festive work.REVIEWS:American Record Guide (7-8/00, p.77) – “An absolute joy on all counts…. this is a must for Bach fans.”Opera News (2/2000) – “…Sch?fer is equally at home in Baroque and 20th century music….These cantatas are as delectable as the fine food at a fancy wedding….Sch?fer embraces[the music]with a connoisseur’s vigor ….[Goebel and the MAK demonstrate]superiority in this repertoire…”

In the Night [Import]

$39.99

Cheryl Lynn’s third Columbia LP pairs the singer with producer Ray Parker, Jr., who strips away the remaining vestiges of disco-era sensibilities to focus on appealingly heartfelt R&B that radiates with warmth. While In the Night boasts its fair share of dancefloor-ready material — the opening “Shake It Up Tonight” even cracked the Billboard R&B Top Ten — it’s the more mellow and romantic songs that command attention, and for all of its considerable sass, Lynn’s voice also boasts a vulnerability that’s truly affecting. [In the Night was reissued a quarter century later in tandem with its follow-up, 1982's Instant Love, as part of a Collectables two-fer.] ~ Jason Ankeny

Bon Voyage! / Carefree

Bon Voyage! / Carefree

$12.99

2 LPs on 1 CD: BON VOYAGE (1960)/CAREFREE (1961).Originally released on Columbia. There is no doubting that Percy Faith was one of the great arrangers in contemporary American music, but the nice side of the two-fer Bon Voyage/Carefree is that it not only explores Faith’s delightful arrangements, but also showcases his clever compositions. Of the two records, combined here on one CD, it is Carefree where the too often overlooked Percy Faith as composer is explored. Every song in this section is a soundtrack for happy walking through the park on a beautiful snowy day. The first section of the disc, the album Bon Voyage, is a bit more serious, with Faith’s renditions of several complex and challenging themes by a slew of composers, but no less cinematic. In fact, the whole 68 minutes serve as a magical aural theme park perfect for conducting imaginary orchestras while driving to and from the grocery store. Bon Voyage/Carefree is a fun listen. ~ Gregory McIntosh

I’m in Love with You/Feel the Need

$17.99

2 LPs on 1 CD: I’M IN LOVE WITH YOU (1973)/FEEL THE NEED (1973).The year 1973 turned out to be prolific for the Detroit Emeralds, who released not one but two of what many would consider to be their finest albums since their days on the Ric-Tic imprint during the heydays of Motown. The first half of this two-fer collection, I’m in Love with You, isn’t the strongest of the two albums, although it does provide for some lively moments, including “So Long,” “You’re Getting Too Smart” (a nominee for a lost soul classic if there ever were one), and “Whatcha Gonna Wear Tomorrow.” The extended version of the Emeralds’ classic “Feel the Need in Me” is alone worth the price of admission for soul enthusiasts. Kudos to Westbound for taking the time to reissue two nuggets of lost Detroit soul. ~ Rob Theakston

The Soul Book/Mocha Motion!

The Soul Book/Mocha Motion!

$19.99

2 LPs on 1 CD. Originally released on Prestige.Personnel includes: Freddie Roach (organ). As Freddie Roach’s Blue Note career progressed, his work increasingly celebrated contemporary black culture, and accordingly developed a greater interest in funky, jukebox-ready grooves, a stylistic departure from his initial melodic finesse. Roach took both interests with him to Prestige, as demonstrated on The Soul Book/Mocha Motion, a U.K.-only two-fer compiling his first two albums for the label. Roach definitely brings the hard funk on parts of The Soul Book, but there’s a laid-back, even meditative quality to others, which is surprising since his liner notes seem to suggest a concept album about the urban grit of Harlem. That isn’t a problem, though; The Soul Book is a fine effort that, even if it doesn’t hang together quite as well as his Blue Note dates, does find Roach exploring an impressively wide range of sounds. Mocha Motion is a more consistently funky affair than its eclectic predecessor, and that’s both a good and bad thing. Good, because the album works up a solid groove that’s maintained from start to finish; bad, because more of the material leans toward the generic. There’s an underlying Latin tinge to many of the tracks thanks to conga player Ralph Dorsey, but the dominant feel is unquestionably soul-jazz. Roach partially redeems the less memorable tracks with his fleet-fingered solo work, but it’s not quite enough to prevent Mocha Motion from becoming one of his weaker releases. Still, heard in this context as part of a two-fer, it’s certainly passable, and the overall package will be worth tracking down for the bigger fans of Roach’s brand of soul-jazz. ~ Steve Huey

Teddy Pendergrass/Life Is a Song Worth Singing

Teddy Pendergrass/Life Is a Song Worth Singing

$20.99

2 LPs on 1 CD.This single CD compiles the 1977 self-titled solo album from ex-Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes singer and soul sensation Teddy Pendergrass, and his followup LIFE IS A SONG WORTH SINGING. Tracks include “The Whole World’s Laughing at Me”, “Close the Door”, and “Life is a Song Worth Singing”.In 1999, WestSide released Teddy Pendergrass/Life Is a Song Worth Singing, which contained two complete albums — Teddy Pendergrass (1977, originally released on Philadelphia International) and Life Is a Song Worth Singing (1978, Philadelphia International) — by Teddy Pendergrass on one compact disc. The two albums are Pendergrass’ first solo ventures and are chock-full of excellent songs amid very little, if any, filler. At this early point in his solo career, Pendergrass was still setting the dancefloors aflame with steppers anthems like “You Can’t Hide From Yourself,” “I Don’t Love You Anymore,” “Only You,” and “Get Up, Get Down, Get Funky, Get Loose.” At the same time, however, Pendergrass had already mastered the quiet storm-style of balladry that would ultimately become his legacy: “Somebody Told Me,” “The Whole Town’s Laughing at Me,” “Cold, Cold World,” and “Close the Door” being the standout ballads here. Compiling two excellent, rock-solid albums back to back, Teddy Pendergrass/Life Is a Song Worth Singing is a perfect two-fer and its chronological sequencing also makes it a historically significant one as well. [Diablo reissued the two-fer in 2006.] ~ Jason Birchmeier

Percussion in the Sky/Wild Strings

Percussion in the Sky/Wild Strings

$22.99

2 LPs on 1 CD: WILD STRINGS (1969)/ PERCUSSION IN THE SKY (1962).Liner Note Author: Oliver Lomax.Bandleader Werner M?ller’s LPs for the London Phase 4 label remain some of the most seriously deranged easy listening records ever released. A bizarrely beautiful m?lange of wordless vocals, pioneering production techniques, and oddball instrumentation, the music possesses an otherworldly splendor unique in the annals of space age pop. Released in 1962, Percussion in the Sky remains M?ller’s masterpiece: a concept record assembling a dozen pop standards linked thematically by their celestial titles (e.g., “You Are My Lucky Star,” “I Got the Sun in the Morning,” “Over the Rainbow”), its use of cosmic sound effects, vocal delays, and other chicanery still sounds revolutionary — if Spike Jones collaborated on an album with Galileo, it would sound exactly like this. This two-fer release also features 1963′s Wild Strings, a similarly far-out subversion of more traditional favorites — though not quite so over the top in its stereo gimmickry, the album retains its predecessor’s disdain for conventional sound and structure, stretching compositions like “The Breeze and I,” “Lady of Spain,” and “Hora Staccato” far past their breaking points. ~ Jason Ankeny

Complete Songs 26

Complete Songs 26

$17.99

Selections recorded in May, September, October and November, 1994; March 1995; and February 1996.Volume 26 of the Hyperion Schubert Edition concentrates on songs written in 1825 and 1826. By this time in his career, Schubert’s rate of song production had slowed as other forms preoccupied him, but the quality is remarkable. There are many famous songs here: Among the most notable are the four songs from ‘Wilhelm Meister,’ D. 877, Schubert’s final settings of the first three Mignon lyrics, plus his only setting of the first as a duet per Goethe’s novel. Also here are the songs to Shakespeare (albeit in German), as well as several masterpieces among the individual songs. The disc concludes with a rare performance of the melodrama ‘Abscheid von der Erde.’The performances are a little variable. John Mark Ainsly’s liquid tenor always is heard to good advantage in Schubert, and Christine Sch?fer is an affecting Mignon. Elsewhere her tendency towards a certain reticence can undermine her always poised singing, which is, nevertheless, unfailingly beautiful. Richard Jackson rounds out the vocal trio, and Graham Johnson provides inspired accompaniment along with his usual encyclopedic notes to the individual songs.

Pierrot Lunaire / Herzgewachse

Pierrot Lunaire / Herzgewachse

$14.99

This recording was nominated for the 2000 Grammy Award for “Best SmallEnsemble Performance (with or without Conductor).”Arnold Schoenberg’s ‘Pierrot lunaire’ is considered to be one of the seminal modernist works of the twentieth century–several chamber works since its composition have been written for the “Pierrot ensemble”–yet its place in Schoenberg’s output is a backward-looking one. In the years preceding ‘Pierrot,’ Schoenberg had thrown out most of the normal limits on music; with this Expressionist cabaret drama, he looked back in both music and drama. In the commedia dell’arte Pierrot was the clown, but here he is presented in a gruesome light; Schoenberg uses baroque contrapuntal procedures with modern twists. In this recording, Christine Sch?fer executes the half-pitched, half-spoken Sprechgesang of the vocal line with appropriate hyper-emotionality. The instrumental group is tight and supportive, and the players execute their shifting roles as an ensemble with ease. The first of the accompanying works, “Herzgew?chse,” follows ‘Pierrot’ in opus numbering, but was actually written the year before. It is another one of the works in which Schoenberg stretched music’s limits, a miniature for high voice and instruments. The “Ode to Napoleon” was written thirty years later at the height of World War II, using Schoenberg’s twelve-tone technique with the reciter more as a speaker than a dramatic character.

Recycling the Blues/Oooh So Good 'N Blues

Recycling the Blues/Oooh So Good ‘N Blues

$13.99

This two-fer reissue on Wounded Bird pairs two of Taj Mahal’s later albums for Columbia that, in all honesty, sound like different aspects of the same recording session though one is live. 1972′s Recycling the Blues is a live album that features Mahal playing a National steel guitar, conch shell, kalimba, and upright bass on one track, in the company of the Pointer Sisters and with handclaps by Howard Johnson. The material is prime acoustic blues with a Caribbean bent. The first two tracks feature solo conch and kalimba pieces respectively, and mix originals and blues classics including “Sweet Home Chicago” and “Corinna.” The latter recording, Ooooh So Good `N Blues, offers more variety in terms of instrumentation (and also includes the Pointer Sisters) but relies far more heavily on standards than originals. Tracks such as “Frankie and Albert,” “Railroad Bill,” “Little Red Hen,” and “Dust My Broom,” (an acoustic version of a track he cut on his debut), are all faithful renditions, but add little to the blues lineage. Add to this Wounded Bird’s typically dodgy packaging, and it’s really for the completist only. A better buy is the BGO imprint’s reissue pairing of Oooh So Good `N Blues with Mo’ Roots. Though they are not in chronological order, they showcase two very different sides of Mahal’s musical oeuvre in that Mo’ Roots showcases Mahal’s early obsession with reggae. ~ Thom Jurek

A Los Angeles law student discovers his Mexican roots after crossing the border to inform his grandparents that his father has died. Rigo always thought he had the perfect family, but his father has kept him sheltered from the truth. Not only has Rigo’s mother been carrying on an extended affair with one of her co-workers at the hospital, but his outwardly studious younger sister harbors a few shocking secrets of her own. If everything goes as planned Rigo will soon be an immigration lawyer, a career he has chosen in hopes of helping his father reconnect with his parents in Mexico. Then just as Rigo’s plan is about to come to fruition, his father passes away unexpectedly. Devastated, the loyal son recruits his good pal Fer to help him track down his grandparents in Mexico, and bring a sense of closure to his father’s life. But accomplishing that goal won’t be easy, because Mexico is unfamiliar territory to Rigo, and not everyone from his father’s homeland is helpful when it comes to dealing with foreign visitors. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

This two-fer reissue of Janis Ian’s second and third albums released on Verve/Forecast in 1968 and 1969, respectively, is no exception. Listening to these albums all these years later, it is astonishing to note that Ian was still in her teens when they were released. While neither album charted, both are rich, varied, and convincing. Check the seven-plus minute “Mistaken Identity,” from The Secret Life of J. Eddy Fink, produced by Ian and Shadow Morton. With its seamless integration of Ian’s pianistic knowledge of hard bop jazz harmony, classic American ballad-book styles, and shifting time signatures; this track is worth the price of admission by itself. Other stellar tracks include the Bob Dylan-influenced “Friends Again,” and the fuzzed-out rock of “Sweet Misery.” Who Really Cares is even more ambitious. Produced by Charlie Calello, Ian is credited as co-arranger for a studio band full of crack musicians including Dick Hyman, Hugh McCracken, Joe Farrell, Marvin Stamm, and others. Ian plays piano on the set. Listen to the interplay with vibraphonist David Freidman on “Orphan of the Wind”; it swings hard but never loses its groove. Check the driving souled-out rock of “Sea and Sand,” the bluesy country-rocker “Time on My Hands,” and “Love You More Than Yesterday,” with her scat singing fronting a full R&B horn section. Both records hold up beautifully. This two-fer on a single disc, is well worth seeking out for Ian fans, since this release marks the first appearance of these albums on CD. ~ Thom Jurek

Bo Diddley/Go Bo Diddley

$12.99

Personnel includes: Bo Diddley (vocals, guitar, violin), Jerome Green (vocals, maracas), Jody Williams (guitar), Otis Spann (piano), Willie Dixon (bass), Frank Kirkland (drums).Recorded in Chicago between 1955-1958.All songs written by Ellis “Bo Diddley” McDaniel except “Bring It To Jerome” (Jerome Green) and “Pretty Thing” (Willie Dixon).2 LPs on 1 CD. BO DIDDLEY is available seperately on cassette.Legendary guitarist, gifted songwriter, master of rhythm, snappy dresser — Bo Diddley is all these things and more, and this two-fer CD, which reissues Diddley’s first two albums on one convenient compact disc, offers a solid introduction to this man’s special brand of musical innovation. While anyone looking for a full overview of Diddley’s career should obviously go elsewhere (His Best [Chess 50th Anniversary Collection] is a great one-stop shopping place for beginners), these 23 tunes serve up a young Bo Diddley at his raw and primal best, and confirm that right out of the box the guy didn’t sound like anyone else in rock & roll. Between Diddley’s hypnotic, rhythmic guitar lines; the implacable rattle of Jerome Green’s maracas; the spacy echo that threatens to envelop everything around it; and the borderline surrealism of the lyrics (witness the updated “Mr. Bones” routine of “Say Man,” the overpopulated family of “Say Bossman,” or the supreme bad-ass-ism of “Who Do You Love”), this man’s music existed in a world of its own, and while you might not want to live there, the one-hour tour offered on Bo Diddley/Go Bo Diddley makes it sound like a great place to take a vacation. In the interest of accuracy, this disc even includes the same take of “Dearest Darling” twice, since the tune managed to appear on both Bo Diddley and Go Bo Diddley; nice to know someone at Chess’ reissue department was paying attention to the details. ~ Mark Deming

The true story of one of World War One’s deadliest air aces comes to the screen in this historical drama. Manfred von Richthofen (Matthias Schweigh?fer) becomes fascinated with flying when he’s just a boy, and as a young man he joins the German army and becomes part of their budding air force. Flying in a squadron with his best friend, Werner Voss (Til Schweiger), von Richthofen is a pilot with a great talent for aerial battle, but he also has a sense of honor and fair play, and he and his cohorts often pay tribute to fallen opponents by dropping wreaths over the wreckage of their planes. When von Richthofen and Voss discover a Canadian pilot, Capt. Roy Brown (Joseph Fiennes), who has been stranded in German territory, they rescue the flier rather than leave an enemy soldier to die, and while bringing him to safety Manfred meets K?te Otersdorf (Lena Headey), a military nurse who has devoted her life to helping those wounded by war. Manfred becomes deeply infatuated with K?te, but while she is also taken with him, she cannot abide his open embrace of the blood sport of war, and even as he becomes one of Germany’s most decorated pilots, downing countless enemy planes, he comes to understand the true horror of war and the consequences of his actions. Von Richthofen gains an even greater perspective on war when he encounters Capt. Brown one last time. Der Rote Baron (aka The Red Baron) was shot in both German- and English-language versions, with the same cast appearing in both. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi
